
HNZ Fundamentals of Palliative Care: Other Symptoms
Aim:
The Fundamentals of Palliative Care is a 10 learning package course, facilitated over 12 separate sessions. It has been developed by Hospice New Zealand to support and educate people who are working with patients and families/whanau requiring a palliative care approach
Designed for:
This workshop is suitable for all those working with people who have a life limiting illness This includes but is not limited to: GPs, RNs, ENs, HCAs, allied health, management, reception and support staff
Restrictions:
The ESSENCE OF PALLIATIVE CARE is the pre-requisite and introduction package. You must attend this session prior to any others
As pre-reading is emailed to attendees 1 week prior to each session, please ensure email addresses are correct on registration
Learning outcomes:
This session will enable the learner to provide effective care for people experiencing others symptoms which commonly occur in the palliative phase of their care. Topics include nausea, constipation, dyspnoea, fatigue, bowel obstruction and delirium. Emphasis will be made on the importance of impeccable, holistic and ongoing assessment to facilitate effective symptom management

There are 10 learning packages in the course facilitated over 12 education sessions in total.
