
HNZ Fundamentals of Palliative Care: Pharmacology
Aim:
The HNZ Fundamentals of Palliative Care is a 10 learning package course, facilitated over 12 separate sessions. It has been developed by Hospice New Zealand to support and educate people who are working with patients and families/whanau requiring a palliative care approach
Designed for:
This workshop content is medication focussed and is designed primarily for clinical health professionals in all care settings. Non medical/nursing staff are welcome to attend if they are interested
Restrictions:
The ESSENCE OF PALLIATIVE CARE is the pre-requisite and introduction package. You must attend this module prior to any others
As pre-reading is emailed to attendees 1 week prior to each session, please ensure email addresses are correct on registration
Learning outcomes:
Many medications used in palliative care are used outside their normal approved use. This session will provide a more in-depth look at the pharmacology aspects of palliative care. The attendee will increase awareness and understanding about the medications commonly prescribed in palliative care and how thse medications are used specifically with the palliative care patient
