Hospice Awareness Week 11 – 17 May
Did you know Mercy Hospice Auckland provides its services free of charge to anyone with a life limiting illness including their families? There is a cost to us however, and this year we must raise $2 million net. 11-17th May 2009 marks Hospice Awareness Week, which aims to raise much needed awareness and funds for the delivery of hospice services in our community. Please show your support and get involved.
How you can help
1. Make a donation
2. Street Collection
Our hospice street collectors will be out in force this Friday and Saturday shaking their buckets, so keep your change handy!
3. Organise a 'Hospice Cup of Tea Moment'
The 'comfortable cup of tea' is a recognised tradition in hospice care, and in the community, as a way of showing hospitality and providing comfort. How about organising a Hospice Cup of Tea Moment at your workplace or with a group of friends & family? It's a great way of reminding us all how good it feels to share everyday moments, big or small with people we care about. We'll supply you with a pack including a poster, collection box and complimentary Dilmah tea. Ask participants to make a gold coin donation. Please register by filling out the form at the bottom of this page.
4. Shop at New World
New World Victoria Park, Panmure and Eastridge will be asking their customers to 'Add A $' to their grocery bill during Awareness Week (11-17 May). We hope to raise a significant amount from this, so please support us by shopping at New World.
5. Take part in our "Living Every Moment" campaign
"Living Every Moment" is a national campaign and has been developed to give people the opportunity,
through our website, to experience how it feels to give and receive a special 'moment' like a hug, a smile,
breakfast in bed to friends and family. We would hope that the recipient of the 'moments' would then be inspired
to send their own 'moments' to friends and family. By sending a moment or passing the link onto friends you will be
helping others to understand the philosophy and heart of hospice, enabling people to live every moment.
Because creating special moments everyday is what we do!
6. Stories
Are you planning on doing something special for Awareness Week? Please tell us your story and send us your photos and we’ll feature the best ones on our website. We’ll even try to get it in the local papers!
