Mercy Hospice Auckland raises $228,000 gross at their recent event: '10' a Celebration of Tastes 2009.

On Sunday 7 June over 400 foodies and wine lovers attended Mercy Hospice Auckland’s annual 'Degustation Brunch' at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. The day was all about celebrating life through the enjoyment of excellent food provided and served by 10 of Auckland’s top restaurants matched with 10 of New Zealand’s outstanding wines. This included, Andiamo, Mount Riley, Bracu, Obsidian, Hammerheads, Montana, Hyatt, St Clair, Kapiti Cheese, Coal Pit, Mikano, Molten, Villa Maria, Sage, Harwood Hall, Toto, Poderi Crisci, Tribeca & Coopers Creek. Master of Ceremonies Lauraine Jacobs and John Hawkesby, experts in the wine and food industry were joined by guest art auctioneer Tim Carter of Barfoot and Thompson. John as always added his entertaining and sometimes side-splitting flair to the day.

The principal sponsors of the event included the ARA Charitable Trust, Pascoes the Jewellers, Manson Building Ltd, Team McMillan BMW and the Hyatt Regency Hotel. Many other corporate groups and individuals donated a vast range of prizes and artworks for the silent and main auctions including 10 BMW bonnets painted by New Zealand artists. Guests also had the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets with the winning prize being a Louis Vuitton Hanbag, to the value of $6,000.
