Pohutukawa flowers adorn Hospice Christmas tree

As you walk into our hospice on College Hill you can’t help but sense that Christmas is a special celebration here.

Our very kiwi Christmas tree, which graces our foyer, is adorned with Pohutukawa flowers which look striking against the white tree they are tied to. On closer inspection the flowers significance becomes ever more prevalent as messages of remembrance and love are written on the back.

Thank you to everyone who has written a message for a loved one on a Pohutukawa flower and posted it back to us or hung it on our tree. These flowers will be blessed, cremated and returned to the earth in a special ceremony in the New Year.
