Heroic Garden Festival support blooms for Hospices of Auckland
The Heroic Gardens Festival is Auckland's biggest, most popular and only region-wide exhibition of privately owned gardens. This year's festival will be held on the weekend of 5th-6th March 2011 and will mark the 15th anniversary of this premier garden event. There will be 24 gardens on show from Kumeu and Red Beach in the north to Pukekohe and Waiuku in the south, with many gardens in between, including two fabulous historic properties: Rannoch House (home of the James Wallace Sculpture collection) and the Kelliher Estate on Puketutu Island. Keep a look out for the February edition of NZ Gardner Magazine which will enclose a programme detailing the participating gardens.
The gardeners have once again chosen the Hospices of Auckland to be the beneficiary of this year's event. In 2010 the Festival raised $51,500 for the Hospices of Auckland and in 2009 $30,000 was donated. Tickets cost $30 (valid for both days) and will be on sale for the month leading up to the festival at Palmers Garden World, Kings Plant Barn, at participating independent gardening and book shops, as well as Mercy Hospice Auckland reception and shops.
