Auckland moved down to Alert Level 3 at 11.59pm on Tuesday 21 September. With this alert level we must still exercise caution, however, Mercy Hospice wishes to put your mind at rest that our team continues to care 24/7 for our patients and families whether via the Inpatient Unit (IPU) in Ponsonby or through the Community Care outreach service.

Please take a moment to read on to find out more about our services or if you have specific enquiries feel free to contact us at mercyhospice.org.nz/contact-us/.

The IPU remains open during Alert Level 3 lockdown with visitor restrictions in place. We can safely accommodate one support person or family member in our IPU, who must stay with their loved one and cannot come and go from our site. We sadly cannot allow additional visitors at this time. However, we have ensured during a patient’s final hours we can provide access for up to two additional people to be with their loved ones. Please note our main gates are closed and screening at both gates and front door are in place.

We continue to provide quality care for patients who choose to be at home rather than in the IPU. Through our Community and IPU Teams as well as our Family Support Team, we are identifying patients who may feel this is appropriate for them and offering advice and support. Our Community nursing team is confident that all those who need our care in the community can be supported through this time.

Mercy Hospice stores are closed at Alert Level 3. They will reopen once level restrictions are lifted to Alert Level 2. We are incredibly thankful for all our volunteers and staff who have worked so hard during these testing times and we look forward to re-opening our retail stores when it is safe to do so. In the meantime we ask those wishing to drop goods off to please wait until the level restrictions are lifted when you can safely leave items. Thank you so very much!

Mercy Hospice would not be able to provide the level of service that we do without our wonderful 540 volunteers.  However, during this time we have made the decision to suspend the volunteer service, due to our Retail Shops being closed and to keep both our patient services volunteers safe.  We are still accepting volunteer applications for when the service resumes https://www.mercyhospice.org.nz/supportmercy/volunteer/

All events were reviewed and cancelled accordingly during Alert Level 4.

We are pleased to announce a new date for ’10 – a Celebration of Tastes’. This has been moved to Sunday 28th November, providing we are in Alert Level 1.

We are not accepting donations of goods at this time due to safety concerns, however if you wish to give a financial contribution, we greatly welcome any support. With events cancelled and our stores closed, we rely heavily on the generosity of our community. Please help us to help support those most in need by donating here https://www.mercyhospice.org.nz/donate/

Mercy Hospice currently cares for 300 patients at any one time in your community and we could not do it without you. Thank you so much for everything you do, because every gift you donate, every hour you volunteer, every event you attend, every person who remembers us, makes a difference.
