OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY
Optimising quality of life
Our occupational therapists help patients to maintain their quality of life in the activities that are most important and meaningful to them. We focus on your strengths and can help you to adapt the way an activity is done, to enhance your level of independence and wellbeing.
An Occupational Therapist can visit a patient at home or in the hospice inpatient unit, to support the patient with the activities which make up a rich life, including caring for yourself and participating in meaningful activities. Occupational Therapy can assist with:
- Assessments of the home environment and daily living activities.
- Equipment to maintain independence and safety in daily activities.
- Education for you and your family in some of the following areas:
- Positioning, moving and handling
- Pressure injury prevention and care
- Fatigue management and energy conservation
- Breathlessness techniques
- Maintaining a routine
- Adapting to change/loss of roles.
